An Appointed Time for Everything…
2005 : January  |  Website Version

In today’s passage, Solomon, in his wisdom, is teaching and reminding us that our lives are subject to change. Although most people would be comfortable with a constant state of affairs, that’s not the reality of life on Earth. Change in our lives will come as readily as change in the seasons, and sometimes we have little control over it. It will happen, regardless of how we feel about it.

Some change, we’ll perceive as good for us: a new car, a new job, a new friend or a new look after hours of working out. Other change we’ll perceive as bad: having our car destroyed in an accident and losing our job. We see things however, from our ground level view on earth, so we may not always be correct with our perceptions of what is occurring in our lives. God stands within time and also outside of time, looking at all of it simultaneously. He sees the beginning and the end, and from this vantage point, He crafts circumstances to bring Him the glory and praise that He is worthy of. From our view, we cannot always see the many different dimensions of God’s plan for us, but God’s plan is always perfect.

What if the Lord had us lose our job because it was hindering our walk with Him? What if we were spending too many hours at work and not enough with Him and our family? What if our current job was not maximizing the talents He had given us? What if, by losing that job, we were able to start fresh and find a job that maximized our talents and thus brought glory to God? We might not think about change in this manner when something negative hits out lives; our emotions can take our focus off God and His infinite view of things. In Heaven though, we’ll understand how involved the Lord was in every aspect of our lives and how He guided us.

Solomon’s message is about change. Change impacts everyone, and change is coming to our Website as well. We have had many new factors enter our lives, and they diminish our ability to have weekly messages. We have been honored and blessed to be able to share the Bible’s messages with you on a weekly basis. We thank the Lord, and we ask His forgiveness if we have failed to live up to His holy standard.

Going forward, we will reduce our output to one message per month, down from one message per week. We will send a new message the first week of each month, and we hope it will bless you. In this way, we can continue to preach from the Bible, and our past messages will continue to be available on our website.

Could this change again down the road? Yes, it could change at any time. After all, few things are permanent: God, His Holy attributes and His love for those He has called; these never change and are always in season.

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you today and always…

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NASB)

1  There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven--
2  A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
3  A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4  A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.
5  A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
6  A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7  A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak.
8  A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.
