Drop of Grace
2004 : Week 30 | Printer Friendly Version
One of the joys of this site is watching people sharing their faith through the writings they submit. Today is an example; we have a new writer who has submitted a poem for our site, and her name is Melissa (Mel) Baetens.
Mel was born into a musically inclined family, and the Lord has blessed her in a mighty way. She plays the piano, violin, viola, electric bass guitar and sings. Mel has performed and played Christian music since the age of 12. She has been writing poetry and musical compositions since the age of 9, and she is currently recording her first CD.
Mel was saved at the age of 7 in a small town in Ohio, but life hasn’t always been easy for her. She has suffered much abuse in her life, and there was a period of time where her anger, stemming from the abuse, made her back slide. Mel’s story is a happy one though, she has learned that God has loved her through everything she has been through, and His grace has covered her life. Her relationship with the Lord is strong, and she is being used as an encouragement and testimony to minister to those around her. Whatever it takes, be it ministry of music or writing, Mel will try to serve the Lord as He leads her.
We can see why today’s Bible verse means a lot to Mel, and she wanted to add this final note of encouragement for our readers; “No matter what you’ve been through, where you’ve been or how many times you’ve failed, God still loves you and is holding out his hand of grace, from a heart full of love, to rescue you from wherever you are.” These are beautiful and true words from Mel, and we pray that they bless you.
Deuteronomy 31:8, as revealed by the Holy Spirit to Mel Baetens…
Drop of Grace
Your eyes are dark and cold,
from the pain locked in your soul.
Your faith hangs by a thread;
Undecided which way to turn.
Your hands are old and worn,
No strength left in your legs.
As you cry to God above.
Longing for a drop of grace.
He can hear you as you cry
He can see you as you try
To pull yourself up from the ground
Where you were left to die.
He will heal your broken heart
He will hold you where you are.
He alone can quench your thirst
With His drop of grace.
Your heart is torn in two
From the daggers caught within
Fighting all the voices
That are struggling to win.
Your arms are weak and tired;
Your feet are badly bruised.
Your fingers scrape the dusty ground,
Your mouth, dry from thirst.
He can hear you as you cry
He can see you as you try
To pull yourself up from the ground
Where you were left to die.
He will heal your broken heart
He will hold you where you are.
He alone can quench your thirst
With His drop of grace.
